Join the Great Daffodil Appeal 2016!

marie curie

Every March, thousands of people across the country join together and pull out all the stops to get behind the Great Daffodil Appeal.

Marie Curie provide care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. They’ve been carrying out this vital work for over 65 years – last year alone they cared for over 40,000 people across the UK.

Given the choice, most of us would want to die peacefully at home, surrounded by the people who mean the most to us. Marie Curie Nurses make this possible. Their service is free to the people they care for and their families.

They offer free nursing care to people with all terminal illnesses across the UK, as well as support for family and friends. Nurses generally provide one-to-one nursing care and support overnight in the home, usually for eight or nine hours. In some areas, they also offer care for a shorter period of time, or during the evening or daytime, as well as care at very short notice in a crisis.

Marie Curie Nurses work day and night looking after people with a terminal illness who want to be cared for at home in their final days – but they can only do so thanks to your generous support.

One hour of nursing care in someone’s home costs £20 – it costs £4,460 to keep our nursing service running across the UK for one hour!

Why not join Marie Curie for just two hours to collect donations and give out daffodil pins? The Great Daffodil Appeal is all about raising as much money as possible, but it's also about having fun, so if you haven't already, why not get a friend or a member of your family to come down and collect with you. You'll raise twice as much and you'll enjoy your day even more.

Your support allows for more Marie Curie nurses to care for people with terminal illnesses in their own homes. So when you're out collecting, and you need a boost, just remember why you're doing it!
