Respite care for parents

We were really concerned to hear at a recent support group for parents with special needs children, that a lot of mums who desperately need some respite care, aren't getting it because the authorities are not forthcoming with information on which companies to use, and are not helping with the direct payment process.

Absolute Healthcare offer live-in care or short pop-in visits to mums with disabled or special needs children. We can also help liaise with the local authority. Help spread the word in our community that we're here for them. No mum should suffer alone...

Visit dementia patients all year round - not just at Christmas

New research out this week reveals people with dementia still benefit from visits from friends, family or carers – despite 42% of the general public believing that if their loved ones can no longer recognise them, the visits are worthless.

After Christmas, people with dementia and their carers may face long, dark days ahead until they next spend time socialising or getting out of the house.

The Alzheimer's Society is calling on people to make a positive New Year's resolution to spend time with relatives who suffer with the disease, and help them take part in activities they enjoy, in order to keep connected.
