Dementia Friendly Hampshire have entered the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund - which is handing out £300 cash a week to good causes. If successful they will use the money to pay for publicity materials (leaflets, banners and posters) to promote the charity and the fantastic work the local groups do.

There are approximately 20,000 people living with dementia in Hampshire, not to mention the families and friends who support them. Many people with dementia find themselves increasingly isolated due to the public's lack of awareness of the condition. Dementia Friendly Hampshire is a new charity which is working to increase understanding and to help remove the barriers people face. We are the main support organisation for local Dementia Action Groups (over 30 established or in the process of doing so), which are run by volunteers who are working hard to help make their communities more dementia friendly. They do this by raising awareness, providing information in their area and working with businesses and organisations. Their work enables people with dementia to have the confidence to use their local services and so continue to feel part of their community.
